Plasma Acoustics

A current project I’m working on involves using laser-induced plasma from a femtosecond laser as a controllable sound source. We’ve achieved full music playback. I can’t say much right now, but publication soon!

Capture I took using a laser doppler vibrometer of the acoustic radiation from a plasma point.

Plasma is scanned in mid-air to form a volumetric image.
